About

Keshara Moore — Queer Black Joy

Human | Dreamer | Writer

Keshara McRae (formerly Moore) hails from everywhere and nowhere. Born to two military parents, she moved every few years, from Germany to Upstate New York to New Orleans and everywhere in between. It was during this constant traversing that she found solace in reading and a love of storytelling.

Eventually, she graduated from the University of Richmond with a BA in Criminal Justice and American Studies, thanks to her mother’s GI Bill. After several years of managing dockets and wrangling clients at one of Austin’s highest volume criminal defense firms, Keshara quickly discarded any inclinations to go to law school.

It was during her brief time working from home during the COVID-19 pandemic that The Obsidian Society evolved from dream-filled scrawls into an actual manuscript. She now works in Business Operations

as her day job, resides in Seattle, WA, and writes, among other things, on the side.
